Behaviour

Our guiding principles for behaviour at our school are:

  • We support our pupils to reflect about and learn from their behaviours.
  • We want our pupils to be ready for life outside of school.
  • We always aim to be fair but this does not necessarily mean equal.
  • We believe that consistency and predictability support our pupils to feel safe.
  • We believe that pupil-staff relationships are central.

In order to maintain consistency and predictability, we have a set of rules for behaviour. They are as follows:

  • We follow instructions from adults.
  • We are kind, polite and respectful to everyone.
  • We keep our hands, feet and objects to ourselves.
  • We hand in any mobile phones or similar devices on entry to school.
  • We move around the corridors calmly and without disturbing others.

Praise

We focus on the positive as much as possible with our pupils including the following:

  • Individual, subtle praise
  • Praise postcards
  • Phone calls home

We believe pupil input is central to a successful praise system and work with our pupil council to develop this.

Behaviour system

  • Regulation – this is our first priority, the zones of regulation are integral to this.
  • Reflection – we find out why the behaviour happened.
  • Consequence – action.
  • Learning point – developing strategies for the future.

See you soon!
