Our guiding principles:
We support our pupils to reflect about and learn from their behaviours.
We want our pupils to be ready for life outside of school.
We always aim to be fair but this does not necessarily mean equal.
We believe that consistency and predictability support our pupils to feel safe.
We believe that pupil-staff relationships are central.
In order to maintain consistency and predictability, we have a set of rules for behaviour. They are as follows:
We follow instructions from adults.
We are kind, polite and respectful to everyone.
We keep our hands, feet and objects to ourselves.
We hand in any mobile phones or similar devices on entry to school.
We move around the corridors calmly and without disturbing others.
Praise
We focus on the positive as much as possible with our pupils including the following:
Individual, subtle praise
Praise postcards
Phone calls home
We believe pupil input is central to a successful praise system and plan to work with our pupil council to develop this further in the autumn term.
Behaviour system
Regulation – this is our first priority, the zones of regulation are integral to this.
Reflection – we find out why the behaviour happened.
Consequence - action
Learning point - developing strategies for the future.
Please see here for the Paradigm Trust behaviour policy which applies to Woodbridge Road Academy

Eating Arrangements
At Woodbridge Road Academy pupils are able to choose either a school dinner or a packed lunch.
Pupils should bring a snack for morning break as well a bottle of water which can be refilled during the day.
We understand that some of our pupils have particular needs for food. We work with your parents, carers and where necessary other professionals to support pupils’ dietary requirements.

Our vision is to provide a highly structured and well organised environment in order to allow our pupils to develop both academically and socially.
An important part of this is giving pupils the opportunity to escape the demands and distractions of their mobile phones and devices during the school day.
Pupils all hand in their mobile phones or other devices on entry to school. This includes tablets and portable games consoles which pupils may have used on the journey. They are kept in a locked box and returned to pupils at the end of each day.
This gives everyone the opportunity to focus on work in lessons and on social interactions and building friendships during social times.
We know that some pupils need their own space during social times and do not want to interact with others. That is absolutely fine and pupils have a variety of indoor and outdoor areas where they can have their own space.
We know that sometimes pupils need to contact parents or carers during the day. In some cases a conversation with a parent or carer can help a young person to stay regulated. We are able to make calls through the school office where this is the case.
We understand that mobile phones play a significant role in the lives of many of our pupils. As part of our curriculum we support pupils to use mobile phones and social media safely.
Thank you to our parents and carers for supporting us with this.
